高黎貢山

Location:
China, Yunnan, Gaoligongshan

Cultivar:
200-300 year old Big Leaf arbor (Dashu)

Elevation:
2200m

Style:
Sheng (Raw) Puer

Harvest:
2010, Spring

Story:
小許 (Xiǎo Xǔ) and his father bought these cakes at the high mountain Gaoligongshan, fresh in spring 2010.They brought them back to their dry storage warehouse in southern Taiwan. They lament that the year after this first encounter, the local producers increased production 2 or 3 fold! Alas, "Ruined it with tea mixing and over-picked tea trees and cashed in!" is a familiar puer refrain. Enjoy this slice of time, the delicious tea Mr. Xu and his son found on their idyllic mountainside excursions across puer country.

*Our Wild Red tea is from different Gaoligongshan trees. It's produced on another part of the mountain, under Xiao Xu's supervision.

Impressions:
Woody, smokey, dark chocolate astringency, dried apricot. A little remaining bitterness is a reminder of former bite, but the tea has mellowed commensurate with its age. Fast huigan, medium body and strong Qi.

Preparation: Gong fu
